Couple Things

I got a bunch of brooches I bought in the mail today! Not quite done but getting there...

The handle makes such a big difference in holding it. It is still majorly top heavy but the cone shape really helps.

Colored an invite page. Still in process too. Clearly I need words.

Started thinking about necklaces. Which do you like best (which lace piece keep in mind I can cut them down more and have a lot more pieces of each; also should I add a charm too? if so of what? thanks in advance!)?

or

(please don't mind the tablecloth background)

Also, made some secret bridesmaid gifts!

I have tomorrow off to get my car fixed (yes the lights are still on) but hopefully in the off time I can get some more stuff done!

  1. Hey Lisa
I like the middle one the best. As for a charm maybe you could do yours and Ryan's initials?
However, it looks fine as is. I love your brooch bouquet!!! It's so unique and pretty. I'm sorry to hear about your car troubles. I spent part of my vacation day at the Registry because Dan was not able to get his inspection sticker because his license plate is faded! There were 200+ people there and after waiting in a long line for half an hour I was told I have to bring in his plate before they will give me a new one! So I'll have to go back there tomorrow! Cars are pains, but we so depend on them! Hope to see you and Ry soon. I have a valentine present for you guys. Let me know when you will be in the area so you can stop by! Love ya! Joanne

  2. Wow that bouquet is amazing! Found you via a comment you left of Los Angeles Love. I think I like the top necklace best - but all three look lovely!

  3. Love the brooch bouquet! I'm thinking about trying something similar, so it's really helpful to see how you're doing it. Are you just stabbing the pin part of the brooch into the styrofoam or attaching some other wire? How did you attach the handle? I'm sure you're not looking for suggestions, but one comment...it might be nice to wrap the styrofoam in something so you don't see white if there are gaps between the brooches. You could use green or black ribbon or fabric. With ribbon it might be easier to insert brooches into the styrofoam between ribbon strands rather than going through fabric. Just a thought, obviously you can totally ignore me. :)

Joanne- I hoep to see you soon! thanks for reading my blog :)

Mrs T- thanks! I love your blog too!

Elaine- thanks for the tips! I am trying to buy flowers of all sizes to fill in the gaps. maybe even buy a couple butterfly/bug pins too. as of now, I am just sticking them in then hot gluing them. the handles is hot glued like crazy.

  5. Bug pins would be so cute! What are you planning to do on the underside of the styrofoam ball? More flowers? Btw I like the first necklace.

  6. Thanks! I'm thinking about using milinery leaves. I think it may be overkill with more flowers. I do want to do mini bouquets for my bridesmaids too

  7. Milinery leaves sound like a good solution. I'm not especially crafty, but I'm going to try to tackle some diy projects for my wedding. More budget friendly (usually) and personal.

  8. its always good to find people who want to diy and compare ideas! especially budget friendly ones :)

  9. One thing I definitely want to diy is my headpiece. There are some gorgeous ones on etsy but they're so expensive! A veil's not for me, so I'm going to try to make a hair flower out of my mom's veil (she gave me free rein to cut it up however I want). And if it looks good, maybe make corsages the same way for the moms. So many options!

  11. That headband is awesome. I'm going for something with a little more volume, something like this or this either as a single big hair flower or multiple smaller ones on a headband. Thanks for responding to my comments. :)

  13. Hi,
Love your bouquet and will be doing one for my wedding and 2 for bridesmaids and jr flowergirl. I am incorporating bugs as well in mine. I saw a great tip from an Etsy artist about the underneath area..spray first with gold or silver paint and use buttons as a filler Also, using a dowel as "the stem" is a suggestion from the same ETSY bouquet artist. I will make the other 3 first with all the girls helping, then do mine. Im also doing a small one for the "throw to singles" and one to present to my honeys grandmother. Good luck to you and yours and keep us updated.
    Happy crafting.

  14. Hi I had a question for you -- where do you get your brooches? I am thinking of doing a brooch bouquet for my wedding next summer, and am in the process of hunting down materials / determining if this project is feasible. Any advice from you would be greatly appreciated! thanks :)

  15. I got them all from ebay! it is the best place to buy multiples at reasonable prices. good luck with the project! message me if you need any help :)

  16. Thanks :) Just one other quick question, I've been trying to figure out which assembling strategy is best -- using the foam half sphere and cone (which I think I see you doing here), but I saw another blog entry (http://oops-im-in-love.blogspot.com/2010/02/crazy-two-days.html) where she found that strategy not so great. Any thoughts? Thanks again!

  17. the styrofoam pieces worked fine for me and my boquet is crazy heavy. you can always reinforce with dowels if you want!
