The handle makes such a big difference in holding it. It is still majorly top heavy but the cone shape really helps.

However, it looks fine as is. I love your brooch bouquet!!! It's so unique and pretty. I'm sorry to hear about your car troubles. I spent part of my vacation day at the Registry because Dan was not able to get his inspection sticker because his license plate is faded! There were 200+ people there and after waiting in a long line for half an hour I was told I have to bring in his plate before they will give me a new one! So I'll have to go back there tomorrow! Cars are pains, but we so depend on them! Hope to see you and Ry soon. I have a valentine present for you guys. Let me know when you will be in the area so you can stop by! Love ya! Joanne

ReplyDeleteLove the brooch bouquet! I'm thinking about trying something similar, so it's really helpful to see how you're doing it. Are you just stabbing the pin part of the brooch into the styrofoam or attaching some other wire? How did you attach the handle? I'm sure you're not looking for suggestions, but one comment...it might be nice to wrap the styrofoam in something so you don't see white if there are gaps between the brooches. You could use green or black ribbon or fabric. With ribbon it might be easier to insert brooches into the styrofoam between ribbon strands rather than going through fabric. Just a thought, obviously you can totally ignore me. :)

Elaine- thanks for the tips! I am trying to buy flowers of all sizes to fill in the gaps. maybe even buy a couple butterfly/bug pins too. as of now, I am just sticking them in then hot gluing them. the handles is hot glued like crazy.
Bug pins would be so cute! What are you planning to do on the underside of the styrofoam ball? More flowers? Btw I like the first necklace.

ReplyDeleteOne thing I definitely want to diy is my headpiece. There are some gorgeous ones on etsy but they're so expensive! A veil's not for me, so I'm going to try to make a hair flower out of my mom's veil (she gave me free rein to cut it up however I want). And if it looks good, maybe make corsages the same way for the moms. So many options!

ReplyDeleteLove your bouquet and will be doing one for my wedding and 2 for bridesmaids and jr flowergirl. I am incorporating bugs as well in mine. I saw a great tip from an Etsy artist about the underneath area..spray first with gold or silver paint and use buttons as a filler Also, using a dowel as "the stem" is a suggestion from the same ETSY bouquet artist. I will make the other 3 first with all the girls helping, then do mine. Im also doing a small one for the "throw to singles" and one to present to my honeys grandmother. ReplyDeletethe styrofoam pieces worked fine for me and my boquet is crazy heavy. you can always reinforce with dowels if you want!
